A closeup of the two 802.11b NICs used in the laptop. The Compaq WL110 is the primary NetStumbler NIC. The Cisco AIR-PCM350, with custom drivers, is necessary to operate the Wildpackets Airopeek NX wireless sniffer.

AirMagnet in action while still waiting to depart Des Moines, IA. This image indicates one station has already been detected within range of Dave's driveway.

Uh oh. Looks like it's Dave's Titanium Powerbook and AirPort NIC sending beacon frames! That's quite the default SSID listed there. What is interesting is that the laptop stated the NIC was disabled and not in service. Mac users may want to be aware their AirPort NICs still transmit beacons while "off".

Throwing caution and automobile safety to the wind, the Wardriving equipment placed on the dash for better reception. The laptop is collecting data via NetStumbler. The eTrex GPS is providing Latitude and Longitude data for the laptop. The Compaq iPaq is cross-checking the stumbled data using Air Magnet software.
Now, you can see the need for the 8-port power strip.
